Minnesota State Fair 2009
I love entering my baked goods at the Mn State Fair. This year I am making original recipes to enter in the special contests at Creative Activities and baking with honey to enter at Ag-Hort-Bee. I will be at the fair on Thursday August 27. I am always there opening day to see what ribbons I have won. I'm there when the doors open. I only stop in the education building to get my picture taken at the education booth. I am always there by the door on Cosgrove Street waiting for it to open at 9 AM. I am entering 8 of the special contests that the various food companies have.
Anoka County Fair 2009
I start the summer with entering the baked division at the Anoka county fair. It is so exciting to go to the fair and look for your entries and see if you were awarded a ribbon. This year at the Anoka County Fair I won 28 blue ribbons! ~Marjorie

Oatmeal Walnut Cookies
I made this cookie to give out to the the basketball players when I interviewed them as a correspondent of The Tonight Show at the NBA finals on June 7th. This is an easy cookie to make and so delicious.
- Dough
-
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups quick cooking oatmeal
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup butter
In a large electric mixing bowl, place butter, sugars, vanilla and eggs. Beat together until a creamy mixture. Sift flour with soda and salt and add on low speed to butter mixture. Add oatmeal and walnuts and combine well. Refrigerate dough for easier handling. Form into balls the size of walnuts. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
Makes 5 dozen cookies.
Bunny Rolls
Here is the recipe Marjore made with Belinda on Kare 11 on April 7, 2007
- Batter
-
- 1 cup water (105F-115 F. degrees)
- 1/3 cup dry milk
- 2 packages active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 3 1/2-4 cups flour
- 1 egg slightly beaten (to brush over bunny rolls just before baking)
- 1 cup water (105F-115 F. degrees)
Place in an electric mixer bowl the water and yeast. Let stand for a few minutes till the yeast is dissolved. Add dry milk, butter, sugar, salt, eggs and 2 cups of the flour. Blend together on low speed then beat at medium speed for 3 minutes. Add rest of flour and knead with bread hooks or by hand to make a soft smooth elastic dough. Place in a greased bowl, cover, let rise in a warm place about 80 degrees till double in bulk.
Punch down, let rise again till double. Punch down and make into bunnies.
